Sensory Functions

The sensory cortex is the area at the front of the parietal lobes that registers and processes body touch and movement sensations. This area is just behind the frontal lobes and is parallel to the motor cortex. The sensory functions associated with the brain are touch, hearing, and seeing. With the sense of touch, a point stimulated on the top of the band of tissue may have a person report being touched on the shoulder. Or, if a certain point was stimulated on the side, the person might feel something on their face. With sight, if you are stimulated at a certain point, you may see flashes of light or spots of color. As for hearing, if you were stimulated there, you will be able to hear a sound (Myers 78-79)..
